UCAM Cartagena in fast line in Hungary

The 2022 Europe Cup champions, Spain’s UCAM Cartagena TM, overcame last year’s Europe Cup Women winners, Budaörsi Sport Club, in the Champions League Group Stage. This marks UCAM Cartagena’s first win, after ETIVAL A.S.R.T.T. had already recorded two victories against both Hungarian and Spanish clubs in Group D.

UCAM Cartagena showed dominance today in Budaörsi, moving swiftly toward victory. Maria XIAO set the tone with a win over Dora MADARASZ, followed by Fei Qi defeating Helga DARI, and finally Sofia-Xuan ZHANG prevailing against Maria FAZEKAS.

Reflecting on the win, Maria XIAO commented, “Our goal is to qualify for the next stage, so we knew that we needed to win against Budaörs. It was not easy to play in their hall, but we were prepared. We are happy with the team victory.”

Budaörsi Sport Club – UCAM Cartagena TM 0-3

  • Dora MADARASZ – Maria XIAO 1-3 (3-11, 11-4, 9-11, 4-11)
