Priping’s Annual Pink Pong Tournament: Raising Awareness, Saving Lives

Priping table table tennis club in Prishtina, this year again, took an active role in the fight against breast cancer by organizing the traditional Pink Pong tournament. Dressed in pink shirts, the players and other participants conveyed the message that early detection can save lives.

This dynamic event not only showed the skills of table tennis players but also highlighted the importance of early detection and raising awareness about breast cancer.

“The table tennis club has now made the ‘Pink Pong Breast Cancer Awareness Table Tennis Tournament’ a tradition, which we call a tournament, but it’s really an event aimed at raising awareness about breast cancer. Through this activity, we aim to send a message to someone to go get checked early, and why not, if diagnosed early, maybe even save someone’s life. Our primary activity is table tennis, so through table tennis, we want to convey this message,” said Kastriot ORANA, President of Priping Club.

The event featured several notable speakers who shared their views on the importance of early detection. One of them was Nafije LATIFI, director of the Kosovo Center for Fighting Breast Cancer “Jeta Vita.”

The director of Oncology at the University Clinical Center of Kosovo, a well-known oncologist, Ilir KURTESHI, highlighted the advancements in the treatment and detection of breast cancer in Kosovo. He added that thanks to increased awareness, we are seeing more cases diagnosed in earlier stages, which significantly improves treatment outcomes.

Kushtrim MUSHICA, the Director of Sports in the Municipality of Prishtina, stated that this tournament is an important part of raising awareness.

“We also all know that participating in sports prevents diseases, and we, as a policy, aim to popularize sports in our country to have a healthier society. Finally, I invite everyone to do early checkups, but also to engage in sports, whatever sport that may be,” said MUSHICA.

Priping Club continuously undertakes initiatives to raise awareness for various causes that benefit the community, fostering a healthy culture in Kosovo through sports.
