Metz TT Avenge Last Season’s Defeat with Dominant Win Over SKST Plus Hodonín

Runners-up in the 2022/23 season, French side Metz TT, faced off against SKST Plus Hodonín—the team that halted their journey to the semifinals in 2023/24. Last year, SKST Plus Hodonín clinched the Golden Match in France to advance to the penultimate stage of the Champions League Women. However, tonight, Metz TT prevailed with a straight-match victory.

Adina DIACONU gave the hosts a strong start, defeating Karin GROFOVA in a tight five-game showdown. Solomiya BRATEYKO also pressured Mariia TAILAKOVA. Mariia won by deth point.

The final match was decided in straight games. Charlotte LUTZ, a quarterfinalist in the Singles event at the recent LIEBHERR European Championships in Linz, showed no mercy against Natalia PARTYKA.

“We were well aware of how strong they are. Last year, we faced them in the quarterfinals, and now, unfortunately, we’re meeting in the Group stage already,” said DIACONU. “Our desire to win was very strong. This was our first home match in the Champions League, and we were very focused. We have a very tough group with TTC Berlin eastside, but I hope we can successfully advance from the group.”

In their opening Group B match, TTC Berlin eastside defeated Metz 3-1.
