Greek National Championships: Eight Former Champions Compete for Glory

The Greek National Table Tennis Championships, the most prestigious domestic event, will once again bring together the country’s top players. Taking place from Saturday, March 22, to Monday, March 24, at the Peace and Friendship Stadium, the tournament will crown the 2025 champions in men’s and women’s singles, doubles, and mixed doubles. With high-level competition and an impressive lineup, the event promises exciting matches and intense battles for the titles.

Strong Lineup with No Major Absences

For the second consecutive year, all major Greek table tennis players will be present in Piraeus, ensuring high-quality matches in the race for medals. The only exception remains Panagiotis GIONIS, who has not participated in the national championships for several years.

A key highlight of this year’s competition is the participation of eight former national singles champions, mirroring last year’s event in Salamis.

Defending Champions and Title Contenders

Leading the field are the reigning champions:

  • Ioannis SGOUROPOULOS, who has dominated the men’s singles for the last three years.
  • Konstantina PARIDI, the women’s singles champion in both 2024 and 2022.

Other former champions aiming for another title include:

  • Konstantinos KONSTANTINOPOULOS – Two-time men’s singles champion (2018, 2019).
  • Giorgos STAMATOUROS2021 men’s singles winner.
  • Konstantinos ANGELAKIS2020 men’s singles champion.
  • Tasos RINIOTIS2017 men’s singles champion.
  • Katerina TOLIOU – Four-time women’s singles champion (2015, 2018, 2019, 2021).
  • Ioanna GERASIMATOU – Women’s singles winner in 2023 (Florina).

Additionally, Elisavet TERPOU, Dimitra-Thomaïs TSEKOURA, and George KONSTANTINOPOULOS have all competed in National Championship finals and will once again be strong contenders.

Tournament Participation and Schedule

A total of 58 men and 29 women from 36 clubs across Greece have registered for the singles events. The doubles competitions will feature:

  • 25 men’s doubles pairs
  • 11 women’s doubles pairs
  • 25 mixed doubles pairs

Matches will commence on Saturday at 10:00. The mixed doubles title will be the first to be decided on Sunday, while all finals will take place on Monday at separate times.
