Five Clubs Reach Europe Cup Men Quarterfinals After Intense Battles

Tonight, five clubs secured their places in the Europe Cup Men quarterfinals, with one match requiring a dramatic golden match decider.

In the clash between TTC Ostrava 2016 and STK Vyhne, the battle was so tight that it required a golden match to determine the winner. Ultimately, STK Vyhne triumphed 2-0, advancing to the next stage.

Bogusław KOSZYK overcame Piotr CYRNEK whilst Miroslav HOREJSI defeated Jakub KLEPRLIK

Both teams had lost their home matches—first, TTC Ostrava 2016 fell in the Czech Republic, followed by STK Vyhne suffering defeat in Slovakia. In the regular match tonight, Piotr CYRNEK, Jakub KLEPRLIK, and Adam KLAJBER secured a victory over Filip SZYMANSKI, Miroslav HOREJSI, and Bogusław KOSZYK.

Having previously exited the Champions League Round of 16 against Austria’s Wiener Neustadt, TTC Ostrava 2016’s European journey came to an end tonight.

Last week, Polish club UKS Dojlidy Białystok delivered a stunning 3-1 away victory over Champions League representative Dartom Bogoria Grodzisk Mazowiecki, ending the reigning Polish champion’s 14-match winning streak in the Superliga. They became the first team this season to defeat the “Gladiators” from Grodzisk Mazowiecki.

They carried that momentum into the Europe Cup tonight, once again defeating KTS Gliwice, this time in even more convincing fashion.

Patryk CHOJNOWSKI, Machi ASUKA, and Piotr MICHALSKI dominated, securing a straight-games victory over Dariusz STEUER, Grzegorz FELKEL, and Jakub MASLOWSKI.

The first leg ended 3-2, but the return leg was a one-sided affair, with UKS Dojlidy Białystok asserting their dominance.

Earlier this season, UKS Dojlidy Białystok had fallen to the French club GV Hennebont in the Champions League Round of 16, but they remain strong contenders in the Europe Cup.

Czech club HB Ostrov z.s. secured qualification by defeating Austria’s SPG Linz in both legs.

Pavel SIRUCEK, Tomáš TREGLER, and Jiří VRÁBLÍK claimed victory over Youssef ABDEL-AZIZ, Zhenlong LIU, and Tobias TISCHBERGER tonight, completing a dominant two-legged performance.

HB Ostrov z.s. had previously ended their Champions League campaign with a loss to reigning champions 1. FC Saarbrücken Tischtennis e.V.

Meanwhile, SF SKK EL NINO PRAHA also secured their quarterfinal spot after defeating Roskilde Bordtennis 3-1 at home, repeating the same scoreline from the opening leg.

Tomáš KONEČNÝ, Yevhen PRYSHCHEPA, and David REITSPIES were victorious over Allan BENTSEN, Jens LUNDQVIST, and Tobias RASMUSSEN.

After losing to Polish team KS GLOBAL PHARMA ORLICZ 1924 SUCHEDNIÓW in the Champions League Round of 16, A.S. PONTOISE-CERGY TT was halted once again.

Tonight, in a thrilling battle against Spanish side Real Club Cajasur Priego Tenis de Mesa, the French team succeeded by the narrowest of margins. Mehdi BOULOUSSA, Thomas LAROCHE, and Flavio MOURIER edged past Alejandro CALVO, Hampus SÖDERLUND, and Alberto LILLO in a tense encounter. In the decisive match of the decisive game, LAROCHE overcame CALVO 6-2, sealing the victory for A.S. Pontoise-Cergy TT.

The Spanish team had won the first leg 3-1, so they proceeded to the next stage.
