Veronika MATIUNINA Caps Off Stellar Year with Under-19 Girls' Title

Veronika MATIUNINA of Ukraine capped off an excellent year by winning the Under-19 Girls' Singles event at the 2024 Europe Youth Top 10 in Grodzisk Mazowiecki, Poland. France’s Clea DE STOPPELEIRE secured second place, while her compatriot Nina GUO ZHENG finished third.

MATIUNINA, who had a stellar season in Europe, faltered only once in Grodzisk Mazowiecki, losing to Poland’s Anna BRZYSKA. Her 2024 campaign began with a title at the European Under-21 Championships, and at the European Youth Championships in Malmö, she claimed gold in both the Doubles and Mixed Doubles events before taking silver in singles.

Clea DE STOPPELEIRE, though defeated by MATIUNINA, also struggled against Poland's BRZYSKA and Natalia BOGDANOWICZ. Earlier in Malmö, Clea won a bronze medal in Doubles and was eliminated in the Round of 16 in the singles event by Sara TOKIC.

Nina GUO ZHENG, who claimed silver at the European Youth Championships in Gliwice in the Under-15 category, rounded off her season with a strong third-place finish.
