Tokyo 2020 medalist OVTCHAROV heads the order at the 2021 POMEGRANATE Europe Top 16 Cup

The 2021 POMEGRANATE Europe Top 16 Cup is the next top European event. Dimitrij OVTCHAROV, Tokyo 2020 bronze medalist in singles and member of the German outfit that won men's team Olympic silver, will head the men's order at the 2021 POMEGRANATE Europe Top 16 Cup in Thessaloniki (Greece) on 18 and 19 September 2021.
The top ranked invited player in the Women's Event is Sofia POLCANOVA of Austria. The players have been selected based on World Ranking Week #30 2021.
POMEGRANATE Europe Top 16 Cup features a men's singles and a women's singles competition. Each consists of 16 players battling it out for the silverware as well as a prize money. The total prize money allocated for both events is 50.000 Euros.

The title holders will not be on duty in Thessaloniki. At the last edition of the competition held in February 2020, Timo BOLL celebrated a record-equaling seventh crown; he equaled the record of Sweden's Jan-Ove WALDNER who succeeded on seven occasions between 1984 in Bratislava and 1996 in Charleroi. Petrissa SOLJA retained her women's crown one year after winning her first title.
