Under the eyes of the Austrian Minister of Justice Wolfgang BRANDSTETTER former player LIU Jia and Daniel HABESOHN dominated at Austrian closed Championships in Horn this weekend.

On the way to her title number 15 in women‘s singles the Austrian top-player LIU Jia had to overcome a very critical situation. In her semi-final against LI Qiangbing (TTC Villach) she was down by 7:10 in the decisive game but with five points in a row she survived. In the final against team-mate Sofia POLCANOVA from Linz AG Froschberg she lost the first set at the end her 4:1-victory was without major problems.

National title number two went to Daniel HABESOHN. After beating Robert GARDOS in the semis he secured gold in breathtaking five-set-battle against CHEN Weixing. The 42-year-old defender showed already in his semi-final that he is still on fire by beating Cup-holder Stefan FEGERL.

Not only the singles also the way to gold in mixed doubles was very dramatic for LIU Jia. At the side of Bernhard PRESSLMAYER (ASKÖ Mauthausen) the final went full distance Stefan FEGERL and his wife LI Qiangbing missed the title with 10:12 in very close last game. A clear matter brought the finals in women’s and men‘s doubles. In a duel TTC Villach versus Linz AG Froschberg LI Qiangbing and Amelie SOLJA beat LIU Jia/POLCANOVA without big problems same for Daniel HABESOHN and Stefan FEGERL in men’s doubles. Against Mathias HABESOHN and Michael PICHLER they secured a safe success.
