In the final Elizabeta SAMARA occupying the no.8 seeded position in the competition beat Japan’s Ai FUKUHARA the no.4 seed to reserve the top step of the medal podium. SAMARA won by the narrowest of margins in the deciding seventh game.
En route to the final four out of five matches had resulted in full distance narrow margin seven games victories; the only exception was in the third round when FREITAS beat Germany’s Ricardo WALTHER in four straight games. The third round was the exception to the rule the final against Patrick Baum like Ricardo WALTHER from Germany was no exception.
Marcos FREITAS recovered from a three games to two deficit to emerge victorious in the decisive seventh game by the very narrowest of margins. FREITAS was the no.2 seed Patrick BAUM was the no.4 seed.
Simon GAUZY of France and Germany’s Petrissa SOLJA won the respective Under 21 Men’s Singles and Under 21 Women’s Singles titles.
At the final hurdle in Olomouc Simon GAUZY the no.2 seed accounted for Japan’s Maharu YOSHIMURA the no.4 seed having at the semi-final stage overcome the latter’s colleague Misaki YOSHIDA. In the counterpart semi-final Maharu YOSHIMURA has beaten Poland’s Jakub DYJAS the no.9 seed.
An in-form Simon Gauzy; it was also an in-form Petrissa SOLJA who like Simon GAUZY occupied the no.2 seeded position in the competition. She beat Austria’s Sofia POLCANOVA the top seed in the final having one round earlier ousted Korea’s YOO Eunchong the no.5 seed. In the counterpart penultimate round duel Sofia POLCANOVA overcomes Japan’s Hitomi SATO the no.4 seed.
Japan’s Ai FUKUHARA and Misako WAKAMIYA won the Women’s Doubles. At the final hurdle they upset the order of merit; occupying the fifth seeded place in the competition they beat the third seeded German partnership of SHAN Xiaona and Petrissa SOLJA in four games to arrest the prestigious title. Japan’s Masataka MORIZONO in partnership with compatriot Yuya OSHIMA won the Men’s Doubles title. They accounted for Jin UEDA and Maharu YOSHIMURA in six games.
