Swedish club opened this season with a defeat in Bremen but tonight in Round 3 reached second win in a row: Chartres – Eslov 2:3. The man of the match was Robert SVENSSON who took two points beating Robert GARDOS in first encounter and Par GERELL in the last one. Third point for the guests provided Chinese XU Hui. All matches took four sets each.

In the other Group B game Wienvertel Niederosterrecih overcame Werder Bremen 3:2. Stefan FEGERL succeeded the same achieve as SVENSSON leading his side to the second win in the season. Austrian needed to play 10 sets and to reach 104 points (almost 11 per set) in total tonight against Bastian STEGER and Constantin CIOTI. Chinese HOU Yingchao secured one more victory for the 2008 MECL winner.

There is unexpected situation in Group B after first three rounds. Favorites Chartresd and Bremen have 1-2 score while Eslov and Niederosterrecih 2-1.

Reigning MECL champion managed to recover after big defeat in Round 2 from no. 1 seed Orenburg: Olimpia Unia Grudziadz – AS Pontoise Cergy 0:3. French side played excellent in Poland reaching maybe crucial victory in battle for quarter final from Group A.

One of the heroes from the recent European team`s championships Portuguese Marcos FREITAS beat WANG Yang in five games. It was important advantage for Pontoise. Guest made a decisive run in fifth set coming from 4:4 to 8:4. In next game Japanese Yoshida KAII tried to level situation against WANG Jian Jun but Chinese prevailed in four sets. Dane Kristian KARLSSON who played important role in the last MECL final concluded the match defeating Bartosz SUCH.

In Group C Saarbrucken defeated Angers away 3:1 in very important game for the place which lead to the quarter-final. The key man in German side was Tiago APOLONIA who continues good play from recent European Championships where he reached gold with Portugal national team. Tonight he beat Kenji MATSUDAIRA and Jens LUNDQVIST. Slovenian Bojan TOKIC brought other point for the 2012 MECL semi-finalists.
