Perfect Chartres overwhelms Bremen

First five Round 2 games of 2014/15 Men`s European Champions League were finished as biggest surprise was seen in Sweden where Eslovs beat the 2008 MECL champion Wienviertel Niederosterreich 3:2. Other results are: Hennebont – Borussia 0:3 Werder Bremen – Chartes 0:3 Saarbrucken – UMMC 0:3 Sten HB Ostrov – Vaillante Angers 2:3.

Ten times European champion Borussia Dusseldorf had easy job in France. Timo BOLL & Company beat Hennebont 3:0 in Round 2 of Men`s European Champions League to secure leading place in Group D. These two clubs were unbeaten after opening round.

Sharat Kamal ACHANTA overcame CHO Eon Rae in straight games of the first match. French rising star Quentin ROBINOT forced great Timo BOLL to play four games. Host surprised German in second set but after that Borussia`s star controlled the game.

Former Angers`player Panagiotis GIONIS Borussia`s newcomer used to play against Hennebont in French Pro A League. Tonight he defeated Dimitrij PROKOPCOV in straight games to provide victory for his side.

The best French club in last couple of years managed to beat away the 2013 German champion in straight games playing without its best player Singaporean GAO Ning: Werder Bremen – Chartres ASTT 0:3.

Austrian Robert GARDOS brought first lead beating Warder’s newcomer Bastian STEGER in straight games. Former Saarbrucken`s no. 1 was very close in first and third set but guest showed that he is able to kept his side in good way although GAO is not there.

Par GERELL used to be Chartres` „secret weapon” many times as it was today. Swede overcame Adrian CRISAN playing confidently all the time. Most experienced player in the game Damien ELOI secured win for French club. He was better than Constantin CIOTI after five games. Both sides are continuing with 1-1 score. Chartres leveled bad experience from opening round when surprisingly suffered 3:0 home defeat from Neiderosterreich playing with GAO Ning in the line-up.

In the reprise of the 2012 MECL semis UMMC beat away Saarbrucken 3:0 but it wasn’t easy win. In first two matches each player could win but both five-sets encounters belonged to Russian side.

Bojan TOKIC and Alexander SHIBAEV used to play with a lot of hart when they are staying one against another. Two seasons ago they had one amazing match and repeated it tonight. Tall Russian again was better although Slovenian had 1:0 and 2:1 lead.

Joao MONTEIRO who reached gold with Portugal in European Championships last week increased UMMC`s lead beating Adrien MATTENET in five games. Finally former runner-up of individual continental championships TAN Ruiwu defeated Marc Rode in four sets.

Eslovs shocked Wienviertel Niederosterreich in Group B – 3:2! Austrian team the 2008 MECL champion was clear favorite especially knowing that in great style beat away Chartes in opening game. The hero of Swedish club is XU Hui who secured two points for his side defeating one offensive and one defensive player Stefan FEGERL and HOU Yingchao.

Robert SVENSSON took third point for Eslov beating Stefan FEGERL in five games.

The 2013/14 MECL semi-finalist played for the very first time with its newcomer Kenji MATSUDAIRA. Japanese lost one of his matches but Angers beat Sten Marketing HB Ostrov in Czech Republic 3:2.

Sten`s player Pavel SIRUCEK was perfect winning two points (second one against MATSUDAIRA) but it wasn’t enough for host team. Angers`Jon PERSSON secured win for his side defeating Tomas TREGLER.
