In the clash of two times WECL champions Berlin Eastside beat at home Linz AG Froschberg 3:2. It was like “bonus” episode of German–Austrian table tennis rivalry after the final of 2014 TMS European Championships in Lisbon last weekend when German ladies won gold. Tonight`s battle cancelled two players who fought for the crown in Portugal SHAN Xiaona and LIU Jia. The 2005 individual European champion LIU Jia missed set ball to catch the fifth set whilst SHAN took three points in a row to provide important win for defending WECL champion.

Other three Round 2 games outcome was: Postas Sport Egysulet – Metz 1:3 Szekszard AC – SVNO STROCK 3:2 Zamek Tarnobrzeg – Fenerbahce 0:3.

Metz beat away Postas Sport Egysulet 3:1 in Group B thanks first of all to FU Yu who took two points but also to well experienced Yunli SHREINER the winner of tight game no. 3. Host hoped LI Jiao being able to secure two wins for them but two times individual European champion brought just one defeating WU Jiaduo in four games of opening match. It was a clash between two former single gold medalists from European Championships.

World`s no. 18 FU Yu easily leveled against Rita KERTAI. Host took just 13 points in total. After that the most experienced player in the competition Yunli SCHREINER managed to overcome Krisztina AMBRUS in five sets.

Finally FU Yu prevailed in encounter between two leading players. LI Jiao had no chance this time losing in straight games. Metz continues with 1-1 score while Postas has 0-2.

Hungarian Szekszard reached its very first WECL victory defeating at home SVNO STROCK 3:2. Two points for the host secured LI Fen the 2013 European individual champion who played last season for Schwechat`s side. In fifth match two Hungarian players met as well experienced Petra LOVAS defeated talented Dora MADARASZ.

Austrian club led 2:1 after three encounters and Matilda EKHOLM had 2:0 against LI in all-Swedish clash. But Szekszard`s player took next three sets in a row. Petra LOVAS WECL champion with Berlin two years ago was unstoppable for Dora MADARASZ in decisive encounter.

Two finalists of 2013 ETTU Cup met in Poland as top WECL seed Fenerbahce defeated Zamek Tarnobrzeg 3:0. Turkish champion changed its squad last summer but kept the strength. Excellent defender Irene IVANCAN secured lead against LI Qian in five games.

It could say that second match was decisive knowing how much HAN Ying means to the best Polish club. But this time she couldn’t stop JIA Wen. IVANCAN and HAN played five days ago in the winning German team on 2014 TMS European Championships in Lisbon.

Zamek`s newcomer Natalia PARTYKA started excellent against Elisabeta SAMARA having 2:0 lead and just nine lost points but guest answered in same style in next two games. Last set was full of upside-downs as both had several match points. Finally SAMARA won 20:18.
