The most important daily newspaper in Luxembourg (‘WORT’) is presently publishing a series of articles about the sport champs of Luxembourg in the years 1970+, and this series has started today with Jeanny DOM.

The trophies (you can see on the photo) are the seven trophies ETTU General Secretary Jeanny DOM has won as the best sportwoman of the year of Luxembourg between 1970 (first title) and 1978 (seventh title), a record, that is still standing nowadays, no other sportsman nor sportswoman in Luxembourg has since then managed to equal or beat Jeanny’s record.

President of ETTU Stefano BOSI congratulated to Jeanny DOM as soon as he received the information: “Jeanny is a very special person and I believe really deserving to be on the spotlights for once, though she’s not used to emphasize herself. I’m working side-by-side with Jeanny since long time and I cannot remind another person likewise devoted to the mission. Jeanny have experienced table tennis from any point of view, and her impressive know-how helps us to make the right choices as much as possible. She had the privilege to turn passion into work but also the generosity to dedicate to this a big part of her life. Jeanny DOM embodies the perfect sport professional, chapeau and thanks again on behalf of the whole TT family, ” stated ETTU President Stefano BOSI.

In the interview, Jeanny DOM stated that during primary school a teacher named Norbert SCHACKMANN learned her playing TT and she thanks him for all she reached in her career. After the sport career she worked for 6 years for the Luxemburgish TTA (FLTT) and in 1993 she started at the ETTU where she’s from 95 onwards General Secretary.

Jeanny DOM is busy with TT matters in the ETTU and therefore she does no more play by herself in order to get some distance. Speаking about greatest moments of her career, DOM decided to highlight year of 1974 when the team of Luxembourg has reached the First Division at the European Championships for a first time at the European Championships.
