ETTU Coaches Conference in Cardiff will be held on 13-15th December 2013 at the Sport Wales National Centre The theme is โ€˜What Coaching Style are you?โ€™ The theme of the conference centres on athletes and how coaches can get the best from player(s).

Every player needs a different style of coaching and coaches had to develop their skills to engage with different abilities characters and egos within the set-up. The conference will allow coaches to discuss the recent technical developments within our game and also how they should be working more closely with Para table tennis projects post London 2012 Among the speakers is Andy MCCANN. Previously an award-winning teacher of physical education he is in demand as an adviser mentor and performance coach to high performing individuals from many walks of life including some of the UKโ€™s highest-profile sports stars. He has also been involved in international and World Championship events as a competitor coach and referee. With a passion for helping individuals understand how they best learn and feel empowered to perform on the world stage Andy is an accomplished conference key note speaker. His accessible style draws from an expertise which includes over 20 years firsthand experience of elite sport performance education health psychology and business.

On Saturday Neil ROBINSON (Great Britain Paralympics Coach) will be on duty. Neil as a player won Paralympics and World medals at various Championships. He has now turned his hand to coaching and will facilitate in taking the coaches through the different aspects connected with coaching disabled athletes from the different class categories to the limits one can expect from their athletes at elite level. How should we work closely with able & disabled squads and as a coach why itโ€™s important in todayโ€™s societyย  to be competent in coaching athletes with disabilities.

Ryan JENKINS will try to answer the question who is actually in control within the player/coach relationship? Who decides what is important and where is the balance of power?

Paul HUGHES is the Welsh Table Tennis Team psychologist and has worked with a variety of sports to engage in the player/coach relationship to help improve performance. Paul will explore what coaches need to implement and where to development to get the best from their teams/squads and indeed their programs. Paul will facilitate discussions and group work to allow the coaches present to explore what challenges they face with the characters they work with daily LIU Yan Jun (Austria National Coach) will speak about technical advances in our game whilst Michail KATSIKADELIS (Lecturer at the University of Thrace Komotini Greece) will give coaches a sample of the Universities last scientific project which will be published soon which is about practical aspects of science (multi-ball training).
