The most successful European club ever, Borussia Dusseldorf didn`t manage to fulfill its aims last season, reaching just one out of four possible titles. Two semi finals in two main events – Men`s European Champions League and Bundesliga – are under all expectations, despite taking totally 60th trophy in its own history.

Team manager of the club, Andreas PREUSS does not hide that Borussia was under its limits in 2012/13 season. Expecting the 2013/14 draw at Dusseldorf this Wednesday, he says:

“The season 2012/13 was disappointing for us. Our target was to win the Champions League. Then we lost in the semifinals against Chartres because we didn´t play our best table tennis in the first match in France. Then we had to cope with the loss of Christian SUSS in the re-match. Now, 2013/14, there are again six or seven teams who are as strong as you have to be to win ECL. I think this will be an interesting season. Our main goal is to return the ECL-Cup to Düsseldorf. We will fight for the title.”

One of the reasons for Borussia`s unsuccessful MECL attempts in last two seasons were Christian SUSS injuries. The club was forced to sign one new player and the choice was Indian Kamal ACHANTA.

“The convalescence of Christian SUSS’ knee-injury will take several months. We expect that he will play for us at the end of the year or even at the beginning of 2014. This is hard for us because we had this situation already two years ago. This time we will be excellent prepared with our new player Kamal ACHANTA. He will help us in this difficult situation we have after the injury of Christian SUSS with his experience, his attitude and his skills.”

Finally, we asked Borussia`s team manager (speaking with him thanks to Alex SCHILLING) how he looks at the role of Timo BOLL in upcoming season?

“Timo is the leader in our team. But Patrick BAUM has to become our second leader in the new season. We need him and his victories more than before.”
