Dear Table Tennis Friends

to summarize a whole year in few words is a hard task now more than ever.

We all are first and foremost people of sport but cannot ignore what happened in recent times because of global crisis that obviously had heavy impact on all economical activities likewise sport business.

Nevertheless European table tennis pursued its development and all our activities and departments’ overlook shows our sport being in good shape in spite of all.

Fill the gap with Asia is still a long way to go but our top-players are slowly climbing and fighting.

Many National Associations get in the game organizing our events with most of them doing for the very first time. Even when some difficulties occurred they strongly upgraded their know-how and capabilities: we believe this being the right way to lay the groundwork to a stronger Europe.

Our promotional programs run smoothly. Eurokids became a “must” for those associations aimed to offer their youngsters the opportunity to share important training camps with other players coming from all over Europe.

Also our marketing area was very steady and pulled off the outstanding agreement with Intersport a new prestigious worldwide brand joining table tennis.

In the meanwhile ETTU was approaching further important projects in order to generate extra financial resources to be shared with National Associations..

About media ETTU web TV Laola1.tv was very successful and doubled the audience in its second year of activity whilst our marketing partner Triumph Media Group was deeply involved in new strategies to make table tennis sport more attractive with higher and extensive TV exposure.

ETTU is nowadays a dynamic body whose commitment is to be a true reference-point for all European National Associations and for the ITTF.

We’re a great family used to outright discuss any problem or different point of view but strongly united by common passion for this beautiful sport whose potential is still to be disclosed entirely.

We believe leisure table tennis having wide room for improving as well as the activity focused on no-professional athletes (veterans etc.) whose abilities remain one of our main assets.

We already start to work on disabled sport and 2012 must be the year of integration .

Thus how is it possible not to be optimist and strongly motivated at the eve of a new year?

I wish all of you and your families time to enjoy the simple pleasures of this holiday season: Christmas is not a date it is a state of mind.

May the magic of Christmas be with you in every season awaiting the happiest of New Years.

Stefano BOSI
ETTU President
