Slovakia’s champions: Ľubomír PIŠTEJ and Barbora BALÁŽOVÁ

This weekend at the National Table Tennis Centre in Bratislava took place the Slovak National Table Tennis Championships with the top seeded players Lubomir PISTEJ and Barbora BALAZOVA claiming the titles in both respective individual categories.

In the men’s singles PISTEJ became the Champion for the tenth time in his career winning the final match 4:0 against his teammate from the national team Alexander VALUCH as his opponent withdrew from the match due to injury. The thirty-nine-year-old player of the Italian club USD Apuania Carrara Tennistavolo returned to the notional throne again after two years.

In the women’s singles Barbora BALAZOVA has claimed the Championship title for the ninth time in her career the first time since 2019. The number one in the Slovak ranking defended her position when on the way to the gold medal she allowed her opponents to win only two games overall which she has lost only in the in the quarterfinals against Nikoleta PUCHOVANOVA.

The thirty-one-year-old player of the French Saint-Denis US93 TT defeated the surprise of the Championships Dominika WILTSCHKOVA (4:0) in the Semifinal and in the Final she easily won against Ema LABOSOVA (4:0) who won the Championships two years ago. The defending Champion Tatiana KUKULKOVA lost Semifinal match against Labosova in a tight seven-games match with even having two match points.

The doubles events were taken over by expected winners. In the men’s doubles gold medals went to Lubomir Pistej and Jakub Zelinka (last year he won with Matus Zelinka) as they did not drop a single set to their opponents. Also in the women’s category the top seeds Tatiana Kukulkova and Ema Labosova took the title as well. J. Zelinka added another title alongside Nikoleta Puchovanova in the mixed doubles (she won her third mixed doubles title in a row).  

In the National Table Tennis Centre in Bratislava-Krasnany was played also the Under 21 category. Filip Delincak became the Champion for the second time and Dominika Wiltschkova claimed her first title.

Under 21 men’s singles

Filip Delinčák (TTC Ostrava/CZ) – Adam Klajber (TSG Kaiserslautern/Germany) 3:2 (-9 -7 8 11 9)
