Three nations in run for one gold in Men’s Doubles

European Under 21 Championships

In the final of the Men’s Doubles Event at the European Under 21 Championships tomorrow will play Cristian PLETEA and Rares SIPOS of Romania against Andrei PUTUNTICA of Moldova and Jiri MARTINKO of Czech Republic.

In the semi final Cristian PLETEA and Rares SIPOS overcame the pairings who eliminated the top seeds in Men’s Doubles Irvin BERTRAND and Leo DE NODREST of France (3:11 11:4 8:11 9:11).

“We do not have a chance to play against left-handers so often so it was very difficult match for us ” said Cristian PLETEA.

Rares SIPOS finally regained his good mood:”I am so happy we will have the chance to play on the last day of the European Championships. It is so big thing to be in the final.”

PUTUNTICA and MARTINKO overcame Florian CNUDDE and Laurens DEVOS of Belgium (5:11 2:11 11:9 5:11).

“It may not commenced well for us. We were down 1:4 but after that we played very well. After 2:0 we were little bit nervous when the victory was so close however we managed to overcome the pressure ” said PUTUNTICA.

Jiri and Andrei play together in German league in TUS Celle.

“We know each other very well and most importantly we believed we could win. We have great confidence in our game ” added MARTINKO.
