Europe Youth Top 10
In the Junior Girls Event at the Europe Youth Top 10 in Noordwijk European Champion Anna WEGRZYN is in driving seat after the two days of play. Poland’s player is unbeaten in six rounds.
Today Anna WEGRZYN overcame Ema LOBOSOVA of Slovakia Isa COK of France and Franziska SCHREINER of Germany and justified her exalted position at the seedings.
“In the last match today against Franziska SCHREINER I lost opening game. I was not focused enough. At the break I talked with the coach and we decided to change the tactics I put more spin on the service; played much faster and it paid off ” said Anna. ”Tomorrow will be hard day but I am felling very well here. The title at the European championships boosted my confidence.”
Closely following is Tania PLAIAN of Romania with one defeat in six rounds.
“I did not expect but I won five matches here. I was so disappointed after the European Championships due my poor performance. I promised myself I will give my best here to prove I can do better than I did in Czech Republic ” said Tania.
Player who came as a substitute to the event Olga VISHNIAKOVA of Russia is right behind them. VISHNIAKOVA suffered by the hands of WEGRZYN yesterday and against Tania PLAIAN today. Before match with Tania she beat Emine ERNST of Netherlands and Ema LOBOSOVA of Slovakia.
“I came here very nervous knowing that all the players beside the host are better ranked than me. I managed to surpass the pressure in most of the matches ” said VISHNIAKOVA.
Jamila LAURENTI of Italy has two defeats like VISHNIAKOVA whilst on position no. five are Katarzyna WEGRZYN of Poland and Franziska SCHREINER.
