Europe Youth Top 10
Tania PLAIAN secured third gold medal for Romania in Netherlands. In the Junior Girls Event at the Europe Youth Top 10 in Noordwijk after outstanding performance in the last match against Jamila LAURENTI she reached the top place at the medal rostrum. Jamila is second and Anna WEGRZYN of Poland is third.
The decision who will won the event had to wait until the last round. Then despite the pressure Tania beat Jamila in straight matches.
“All our coaches told me to be relaxed and to enjoy the game. They told me to outvoice her because we all know her tactics and how laud she is. I attacked her from the beginning and did not let her control. I study our encounter at the European Championships in Team’s Event when I had a lead and then she beat me ” explained PLAIAN.
At the tournament Tania lost two matches against Franziska SCHREINER of Germany and Zdena BLASKOVA of Czech Republic.
“The match against Zdena today was the toughest one both mentally and physically.”
In Netherlands Tania came as fourth seed.
“I had bad performance at the European Youth Championships and I had to prove myself I can play better. It put a lot of pressure on me before I came. Fortunately all that has gone from the first day. When I entered the venue and when I approach the table I knew I could win. I felt the ball I felt very well here. Everything came into the place. Every match was important but the last against Jamila and the duel against the European Champion were something special.”
Anna WEGRZYN of Poland is European Champion and she was no. one seed at Top-10; finished third.
“I beat Anna at the European Youth Championships in Cluj and I wanted to prove that was not coincidence. I knew I can beat her again ” stated PLAIAN.
