Sofia POLCANOVA: Goal is to fight for each other!

LIEBHERR 2019 ITTF- European Table Tennis Championships Nantes (September 3-8)

 

Sofia POLCANOVA is looking forward playing at the LIEBHERR 2019 ITTF- European Table Tennis Championships in Nantes with guaranteed party at the opening day (September 3rd) when she will celebrate her 25th birthday.

 

Austria’s player is the second beset ranked European holding world’s no 16 (Romanian Bernadette SZOCS is no. 14). She beat two strong Asian players CHEN Szu-Yu and Saki SHIBATA at the recent 2019 ITTF World Tour Czech Open in Olomouc twice after seven games to reach quarter-finals.

 

„I am in a good shape right now not only physically but also mentally. I had tough matches at Czech Open where I could advance to the quarterfinal by winning very close games against the top players in the world. I hope to continue like that also at European Championships” stated Sofia POLCANOVA.

 

Expectations and goal in Nantes?

„We have a great team spirit. The goal is to support each other and fight for each other. To get a medal would be a good result”.

 

Comments about Group opponents?

„Our opponents in the group are Bulgaria and Ukraine it will be difficult matches but I think that we can beat them.”

 

Last days of the preparations?

„We will have our preparations in Linz with some training partners and also I will prepare myself physically with my fitness coach.”

 

Best memories from Team European CH?

„My best memory is definitely winning a team silver medal in 2014. This was an unforgettable moment and also my first medal at European Championships.”

 

Where did you spend your holiday this summer?

„I went to USA on a road trip.”
