Incheon Korea to Host 2018 ITTF World Tour Grand Finals & ITTF Star Awards

The International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) is pleased to confirm Incheon (KOR) as the host of the prestigious Seamaster 2018 ITTF World Tour Grand Finals from 13 – 16 December 2018 in conjunction with the 2018 ITTF Star Awards.
 

The million-dollar Grand Finals will see only the world’s best table tennis stars competing for the prestigious title in Incheon as only top 16 men & 16 women who have earned the most World Tour ranking points through the 12 World Tour events (6 Platinum & 6 Regular) in 2018 will qualify for the year-ending finale.

 
The top 8 men’s women’s & mixed doubles pairs with the most World Tour doubles ranking points will also be heading to the Korean metropolitan city to battle it out for the titles at the four-day event.

 
ITTF President Thomas WEIKERT stated “The ITTF is excited to bring the Seamaster 2018 ITTF World Tour Grand Finals to Incheon Korea to round up an amazing year of table tennis in 2018 in the lead up to the 2020 World Team Table Tennis Championships that will be held in Busan.”

 
“The Korean organizers has shown their capability to deliver a world-class event throughout many years of organizing the Korean Open. The 2018 Shinhan Korean Open was especially sensational and historical showing the world the power of table tennis in promoting and contributing towards world peace through unifying the North & South Korean teams where we eventually saw unified Korean pair JANG Woojin (KOR) & CHA Hyo Sim (PRK) winning Gold in the Mixed Doubles event.”

 
The “Race to Incheon” is now left with 2 events on the Seamaster 2018 ITTF World Tour calendar for the world’s top table tennis stars to earn precious World Tour ranking points in order to qualify for the most lucrative table tennis event on the planet in Incheon:

 

  • Seamaster 2018 ITTF World Tour Swedish Open Stockholm 1-4 November 2018
  • Seamaster 2018 ITTF World Tour Platinum Austrian Open Linz 8-11 November 2018

Following five successful editions of the ITTF Star Awards the 2018 ITTF Star Awards to be held at the Grand Hyatt Incheon Hotel on 12 December promises to be even more grand and spectacular than ever.
 

The “Oscars of Table Tennis” will be a night of glitz and glamour as stars of the sport – athletes officials & coaches all dress up in their finest to celebrate their achievements and a fruitful year of table tennis in 2018.

 
The 2018 ITTF Star Awards will witness the crowning of Stars in the following categories:

  • Male Table Tennis Star
  • Female Table Tennis Star
  • Male Para Table Tennis Star
  • Female Para Table Tennis Star
  • Table Tennis Star Point
  • Table Tennis Star Coach
  • Table Tennis Breakthrough Star
  • Table Tennis Fair Play Star
