Luxembourg National Championships 2025: New Champions to Be Crowned

This weekend, Luxembourg’s top table tennis players will gather at the Foyer National Championships, held at the Gymnase of the National Sports Center “Coque” (2 rue Léon Hengen, L-1745 Luxembourg). The tournament will crown new national champions in men’s and women’s singles, doubles, and mixed doubles, as last year’s titleholders Tessy GONDERINGER (Rued) and Maël VAN DESSEL (Hueschtert-F.) are not participating this year.

With the absence of last year’s winners, the competition is wide open. In the women’s singles, Sarah DE NUTTE (Diddeleng) is the top favorite, but Enisa SADIKOVIC (Diddeleng) is determined to challenge for the title after last year’s quarter-final defeat. Other contenders include NI Xiao Jing (Ettelbréck), Melisa SADIKOVIC (Diddeleng), and Tessy DUMONT (Lënster), who will look to challenge the seeded players.

The men’s competition promises high-quality matches, particularly in the later rounds. The main favorites include former national champions Luka MLADENOVIC (Berbuerg) and Eric GLOD (Wëntger). Other top-seeded players, such as Irfan CEKIC and Evgheni DADECHIN (both from Nidderkäerjeng), will also be in contention. Emerging young players Gene WANTZ (Recken), Tom SCHOLTES (Berbuerg), Loris STEPHANY (Berbuerg), Aaron SAHR (Lénger), and Luca ELSEN (Lëntgen) will attempt to challenge the more experienced competitors.

Doubles Events Bring Fresh Pairings

Many of last year’s favorite doubles pairs have changed, making these events unpredictable. The top-seeded pairs include:

Men’s Doubles: CEKIC/DADECHIN (Nidderkäerjeng) and STEPHANY/MLADENOVIC (Berbuerg)

Women’s Doubles: DE NUTTE/STAMMET (Diddeleng/Rued) and SADIKOVIC/SADIKOVIC (Diddeleng)

Mixed Doubles: DE NUTTE/MLADENOVIC (Diddeleng/Berbuerg) and GALES/GLOD (Wëntger)
