Actual World no.4 Dimitrij OVTCHAROV from Germany came from two sets behind to defeat Sweden`s Elias RANEFUR playing Round of 16 at the Seamaster 2017 World Tour Asarel Bulgaria Open in Panagyurishte. The no.3 seed Quadri ARUNA from NIGERIA was extended to full distance by 17-year-old Japanese Yuto KIZUKURI but managed to win. All other six quarter-finalists of the Men`s Singles event are from Japan.
Japanese Jin UEDA the no.5 seed defeated Belgium`s Cedric NUYTINCK in five games of the Round of 16.
All-Japanese Round of 16 was seen in the Women`s Singles event. Two top seeds Kasumi ISHIKAWA and Mima ITO are among Japanese players who reached quarter-final stage.
