Visa-free travel to Belarus

On the eve of the ITTF tournament Belarus Open in November that is a testing tournament before 2019 European Games a new information concerning visas for entering Belarus appeared.

According to the Presidential Decree which was signed by the President of the Republic of Belarus on July 24 the term of visa-free stay of foreign citizens in Belarus is extended to 30 days (instead of 5 days) provided they enter the country and depart it crossing the state border at the national airport Minsk. The list of countries whose citizens have the right to use the regime of visa-free entry and exit has been updated. It excludes countries with which Belarus has concluded bilateral agreements on the mutual abolition of visas.

The given order of visa-free movement through the airport does not extend to persons coming to Belarus by flight from Russia as well as to those who intend to fly to the airports of Russia (such flights are considered as internal ones and countries do not have border control).

To enter the Republic of Belarus in the visa-free regime via the checkpoint ā€œMinsk National Airportā€ foreign citizens must have the followingĀ documents:

– a valid ordinary passport or another substituting document for traveling abroad;

– financial means: at least 25 Euro (or equal amount in dollars or Belarusian rubles) for each day of stay;

or 50 base values (more than 610 dollars) if the stay is of full 30 days

– medical insurance for at least 10 000 Euros that covers the territory of Belarus.

A mandatory additional requirement for the citizens of Vietnam Haiti Gambia India Lebanon Namibia and Samoa is the presence of a valid multiple entry visa of the EU or Schengen states in the passport with a mark on entry into their territory as well as air tickets with confirmation of departure from the national airport of Minsk within 30 days from the date of entry.

A special decree was signed providing a visa-free regime for a number of foreign citizens for the period of the 2019 European Games in Minsk.

The document sets visa-free entry to Belarus for participants officials Games’ organizers other professional staff from May 20 to July 10 2019 as well as for foreign tourists from June 10 to July 10 2019 on accreditation cards or tickets for sporting events.
